WEEK ONE: Day 2

Today was such an amazing day. We had an elder come in and do a presentation. Which was totally inspirational. He said such simple easy to grasp things that just seemed so revolutionary, and its all stuff we have heard before. He talked about Native Rights, the introduction of alcohol into our communities, gambling; he named 3 foods that we consume every day that are bad for us (salt, sugar & flour). Two new students joined us today; so far I really like the class size and the new people that I am meeting.

As you know this is my second day in class, I realized today that this is an amazing moment in my life, moving forward, continuous learning. I feel so fortunate that my band paid for the tuition. It all happened so naturally which tells me that I was meant to be!

Some other subjects the elder covered:

-Do not waste time; time is precious, respect other people’s time.

-An unpredictable mind = an unhealthy mind = untrustworthy.

-The word student means: Constant observer

-Other people want your mind

-Develop your own philosophy

-Take care of your body (health) make realistic goals/plans

-FIGHT HARDER

-It is YOUR thoughts in action

-GO FOR IT

-There are no hopeless cases only hopeless methods

-Forgiveness = Letting go

-Bringing out your best today & everyday.

-To educate, Is to lead

-Take things one day at a time.

Like I said before, something amazing is happening here (@ school) everyday!

We covered Maslow’s hierarchy as well. We talked about the different types of schooling environments (Ex: small/large high school’s in comparison to University) Different resources that are available to students, different teaching styles, attributes that contribute to successful student life/studies.

Hmm think that is about it for the day, cant wait to see what tomorrow brings. Tomorrow is the last day for the week then we start regular hours and we start our courses come Monday. Monday & Math YAY lol :P Well till tomorrow TTUT
