Vancouver Rave Culture

How many of you went to raves? How many of you had no idea what was really going on, and when I say that did you know who the DJ's where? Probably not! Well let me tell you there are shitty ones and then there are the ones I went to which were kick ass, fuckin awesome stellar rock your world raves. I only went to the BEST, nothing but the best for me. The best raves, the best E, the best coke, the best weed, the best alcohol. Back in my day they use to host raves at Plaza Nations (Now Edgewater Casino) 3-4 thousand people went.
The best DJ's from the UK would come (the UK is the birth place of trance):

Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Sasha And John Digweed, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Judge Jules, Danny Tenaglia, Fergie, Lisa lashes,Danny Howells, Seb Fontaine, Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, Tall Paul, Timo Mass, Deep Dish, Pete Tong, Ferry Corsten, Mauro Picotto, Lisa Pin-Up, Ann Savage, John 00 Fleming, Guy Ornadel, Dave Pearce, Basement Jaxx, Tidy Boys, Sister Bliss, Scott Bond, Armand Van Helden, Christopher Lawrence, The Dream Team, DJ Dan, Tony De Vit,and the Warp Brothers. -The list can go on but those are a few of the one's I know and like, there are many more! (OK not all of these DJ's went to Plaza Nations, cause some of them are dead, but you get the idea)

Now to the layman this may sound like a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but to die hard enthusiast you know that I know what I'm talkin about. I have seen all of the above DJ's. Am I the only person left in Vancouver who remember's the party's that they use to have or what??? Whatever if you missed them then you missed out BIG TIME.

There were 3 stages, the main stage which was on the ground floor where they would usually have the headliners play there sets, off to the side underneath the huge ass balcony there was the second stage which was the Drum & Bass/Break beat room. You would have to take the escalator upstairs which would bring you to the massive balcony where you could over look the main stage, the VIP section was on the far end of the balcony. Last but defiantly not least there was the auditorium there were rows upon rows of seats and a DJ playing house (ambient or electro) it was a pretty chill room, where you could go and relax in actual seats and peak.

Me and my girlfriend would usually pop 1 cap before we got in, usually while waiting in the massive line up. We would be just about peaking when we got inside, then we would get more E, at that time I started off only doing one maybe two caps at the most. But that did not last for long. Before you know It I was popping 2-6 caps in one night!

I knew a girl who would do the oddest cocktail of drugs. She would go acid, mushrooms and PSP and GHB. Seriously that's like a suicide waiting to happen. Let me tell you one thing, she looked really fucked up. These raves would go on till like 6-7am! After I would go back to my hotel room at The YWCA, which is located directly across from Roger's Arena. This is only one of many experiences that I have had, I sense part 2 in the making. As the candy raver's use to say "Go Hard Or Go Home" Keep your eye out for Part 2! Till then.
